…thinking globally, ministering locally.
God at Work – Around the corner, Around the world: August 2008
“In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps (Prov 16:9 NIV).”
Here at GCM we are filled with lofty ideas for new ministries and continued growth. We have hopes and visions that we are continually working towards that would expand our reach in the surrounding community and serve more people in the name of Christ. The desires of our heart for this organization are a starting point, but it is up to God to lead us in the right direction. We wait on his influence to shape the future of GCM. Praise God for not leaving it all up to us!
Praises
* In April we received a group of missionaries from the US who accomplished an incredible amount of work for the Lord. They contributed a great deal to the growth of our library, visited and worked with the Motherless Babies Home and public school, preached in many different contexts, joined our Matriculation Service and much more. We praise God for their willing hearts and dedicated service.
* By the grace of God we joyously received our container!
* We thank God for the 12,000 books now in our library. We are thankful to be able to offer all of this reading material to not only our students here at SAIACS, but also to the community.
* As the missionaries returned home, Rev. Fyne was also given travel mercies to and from the US for a month long visit with his family. Praise God for rest, family time, and a safe return to GCM.
* In late June we received a new addition in our GlobalHEED staff. Mary Ann Kaiser has come from Florida to join us for the year and will serve in our HIV/AIDS Initiative Program and other GlobalHEED arenas. God was gracious to her in travel and has blessed her in her adaptations to a new culture.
* July 26th was a day of great celebration and we praise God for the new marriage of our own GlobalHEED Program manager, O. Victory and her husband Kperechukwu. The day was filled with music, dancing, great food and most of all, a spirit of joy for the young couple’s beginning journey together.
Prayers
* Pray unto God exultation for the multitude of blessings he has given us and our work.
* Please join us in lifting up our latest work in our HIV/AIDS Initiative. We are beginning a new set of programs for the community and we pray that God would open opportunities in local churches to expand the knowledge on this disease and reduce the stigma that lingers.
* Ask God to guide us in the building of our newest sector in GlobalHEED called Living Water; a program devoted to building wells in the area. God has already blessed us with a contractor who has given us all the details on how to make this happen so we are just waiting on God to provide us the finances. Each well is only $10,063 and will greatly impact the lives of 1000-2000 people in need of sanitary water.
* Our library is a blessing to us and we desire for it also to be a blessing to many in the community. Ask God to show us how he can use the library as a means of community between us and those in the area, and also how to get the word out that all of these books are available.
* Pray for our overall finances and that God will continue to provide for the work of this organization.
Partnership
As we continue to grow in outreach and in SAIACS, our needs also continue to grow. We are consistently seeking partnerships with individuals, churches, and missionary boards/committees to carry out the vision God has given us. Pray that God will continue to lead us in the direction of those he wishes us to partner with. Please let us know if you have any connections with those who may be interested in joining our work. We have ongoing needs in the areas of:
Adjunct Faculty
Computers/Laptops/Printers/Cartridges
Funds for chapel improvements: PA system, musical instruments, etc.
Scholarships for students
HIV/AIDS & Medical Missions; Doctors/nurses who may commit to short or long term ministry together with local professionals. Medicines, equipment and supplies.
Funds for the backing of our HIV/AIDS awareness program and for the building of our Living Water well program.
Thank you for your consistent role in this ministry.
