Thinking Globally, Ministering locally

“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.” (Romans 12:10, NIV)

To think globally is to think big; it is to recognize the ways we are all connected to each other irrespective of our locations. It is to say that even those we never meet, who seem so far away, are still our brothers and sisters whom we can impact and be impacted by. To minister locally is to take this same concept and apply it in everyday connections we make with those around us. It is lovingly greeting a stranger, it is truly listening to someone, and it is simply taking the time to show you care. God holds the whole world in his hands, yet reaches out to each of us intimately. Here at GCM, we are thinking globally, ministering locally, and just trying to reflect the love of God along the way.

Praises:

· The first week of September, Rev. Fyne and Mary Ann traveled to Nibo in Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, for a three day conference on HIV/AIDS. It was an especially fruitful weekend for many reasons

· The church conference was a successful and beautiful blend of HIV/AIDS prevention, relevant and moving preaching, and govt. sponsored free HIV/AIDS testing.

· We had the privilege of meeting with the King of Nibo, at his palace, where we were able to share our weekend goals with him and we gratefully received his blessing on our work. He and his council promised to share the information given to him on HIV/AIDS with his community.

· At the time we met with the king there was also a neighboring king and council visiting his palace. They too listened to our plans for ministry and we are hoping this leads to similar opportunities in their village.

· We praise God for ministry relationships renewed, relationships begun, and relationships to come because of a single visit to Nibo! Thanks Rev. Ekene Mbah for good organization and all that you and Crown of Life Bible Church are doing in that part of the kingdom.

· September 26, we also traveled to Nnewi, Anambra State for a Marriage-HIV/AIDS conference put together for by us Rev. Christian Ezurike and Friends of Good Marriages. The conference offered a biblical basis for healthy marriage relationships and how HIV/AIDS affects marriages. The participants were blessed and challenged!

· The orientation for the marriage conference prompted interest from pastors in the Nnewi area for an extension campus of SAIACS. Pastors are hungry for more training and want SAIACS to be the base for their education!

· Interest in our LivingWater program is growing. We praise God for the work he is doing in Florida through Emily and her young people who have given up drinking anything other than water to save money to help purchase a well to be built through our program.

· An orientation to our HIV/AIDS program was recently given at Jesus Incomparable Ministries, Akwakuma, Imo State. Praise God for a continued interest in our program.

· SAIACS’ Christmas (year-end) Trimester started with Mary Ann’s combined classes in Writing Skills/Use of English. We also gained two new students this module!

Prayers:

· Rev. Fyne returned to the United States this week. We praise God for his safe journey but ask for continued prayers during his stay. Pray that his time with his family will be blessed and that his opportunities to share the good work being done in Nigeria will be fruitful in stirring others’ desire to be a part of it.

· Pray for Rev. Peter Maduka as he combines his other assignments with running the ship in Fyne’s absence

· Pray for our SAIACS students! Ask God to help them with the finances they need for their personal lives and for the cost of school fees. Pray for our two newest students, Emmanuel Kelechi and Paul, as they become a part of the SAIACS family.

· Pray for discernment. We need God’s guidance in the things we are doing well, the things we could be doing better, and the things we shouldn’t be doing. Ask God to help us continue to discern his will for this organization and all our areas of ministry.

· Continue prayers for our well water program. We are thankful for the growing interest but ask that more help would come as we seek to see this program produce abundant results!

· Pray for Mary Ann as she prepares for a three-day conference for local ministers and Christian leaders in Ngor-Okpala local government area October 22-24th. Ask God to give her guidance in her preparation and confidence in her work.

· Thanks for praying for Emily as she visits to ‘spy’ the land in preparation for our Florida youth team visit early next year. Pray for safe travel, good health and positive first experience of Nigeria.

· Finally, thanks for praying for our urgent financial needs, and how God may move you to help.

Partnership:

We are continuously grateful to all of those who are currently partnering with us in prayer, in finances, in time and in encouragement. The work done at GCM requires the help of many and we are always looking for more people interested in being a part of what God is doing here. Please forward this information to anyone you think would be moved to assist us in any way. Our major needs in partnership as of now are:

· Adjunct Faculty

· Financial contributions to our LivingWater well program, HIV/AIDS Initiative, SAIACS and/or basic GCM needs.

· A new laptop for the President’s use
