Thinking Globally, Ministering Locally

God at Work: around the world, around the corner. December 2008

"Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality, as it is written: He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little" (1 Cor. 8:13-15, NIV).

Some of our desires for the body of Christ may seem like impossible goals at times, but as we partner with Christ we find that we are simply called to let the Spirit of Christ demonstrate the transforming power of the gospel in the individual ways God intended for us. In Him and through Him each individual member working together with the other and contributing to make the body grow and build itself up in love. Here at GCM, it is the individual talents, gifts and passions of our staff, faculty, administration and international partners that, when united, help us to complete the ministry God has set before us.

Praises
  • Our GlobalNet Cyber Café is alive and well. We are grateful to God for the success of our café in the month of November.
  • On November 27th, Rev Christian Ezurike and Mary Ann led a conference in Nnewi, Anambra State, concerning adoption, orphans, and HIV/AIDS. The conference was an inspiring and compelling event. The participants expressed the deep blessing they received as God surely moved within the work of that event. Thank you Christian for your devotion and partnership.
  • On December 2nd Mary Ann was given an opportunity to share about HIV/AIDS with a group of about 150 young adults. Though the time was limited, the group responded well and is interested in hearing more about how they can make a difference in the battle against this disease.
  • Our seminary students at SAIACS had a successful month as they studied Devotional Life & Literature as well as OT Biblical Theology both taught by Rev. Peter Maduka.
  • We thank God for Gail Pazdur who filled our need of a working laptop. God bless you, Gail, for your kindness!
  • We are thankful for Don Tjader’s and all his helper’s work on our website. Thanks for visiting our new and improved site at www.globalnetinc.org.
  • We are very excited that Lisa (Rev. Fyne’s daughter) and Shannon (her friend/roommate) are planning to travel back with him to Nigeria in the first week of January—Lisa’s first time since they traveled to the US 9 years ago! While in Nigeria, Lisa and Shannon plan to "be helping with raising awareness and setting up some college fairs for more prospective students for SAIACS, visiting and working with the motherless babies homes, making available supplies to orphaned children, meeting and empowering young women, helping with the start up of well digging, and so many more ministries that God has continued to show us.”
  • Finally, we praise God for all His goodness and loving-kindness to us, provision and protection for all of us through 2008. To Him be all the glory!

Prayers
  • Our campus situation continues to call for urgent serious prayers and action. Our information is that our landlord has either sold or at the verge of selling our current rented campus. We must give up possession and relocate within the next 60 days. Please pray that God will lead and guide each step of the way; on-time financial favor with the $25000-30,000 needed for construction and relocation into our permanent accommodation; smooth transition and peace of mind.
  • Our students are currently on their last module of the year, General Computer/Computer Appreciation taught by Mary Ann. This is many of the students’ first encounters with using a computer so we are asking that God would help the understanding to come easy. We pray they are blessed and leave with tools that will assist their future ministry and lives.
  • Pray for all of our staff as they struggle to meet their needs during this December period. Prices for daily needs are especially high during this time.
  • Continue your prayers for our president, Rev. Fyne, as he continues his ministries in the United States.
  • Thanks for praying for Lisa and Shannon through their preparations and upcoming ministry in Nigeria. They are still very short of the $4800 they need to cover flight tickets and expenses. Thanks also for considering assisting us with financial contribution of any amount to make this trip possible.
  • Finally, please join us in asking God for guidance in what steps to take for the future of GCM. Pray as we work on much needed strategic restructuring of our US board; as we relocate to a new site here in Nigeria; and, prepare for a new ministry/academic year. We need God’s clear leading as we make these big decisions.

Partnership

  • There are always a number of ways that someone interested could partner with us and the work that we are doing here at GCM. We desire to meet people willing to give their time, financial gifts, prayers or talents to the work of the Gospel in Nigeria. We especially need the following:
  • Adjunct faculty
  • Invite your church, youth group, family or other organization to do a fundraiser for our LivingWater well program which provides access to clean water for local villages. Create awareness and support by getting involved in this ministry. Check out www.livingwaternigeria.blogspot.com for ideas.
  • Our HIV/AIDS program is always in need of financial assistance to help provide materials/handouts to those who attend our conferences.
  • We invite medical teams to come and minister to the sick in our community.

    SAIACS Student Spotlight
Eunice is a student in our diploma program at SAIACS. She felt God call her to come study with us so that she could learn more about who He is and how He functions. She believes she is being trained to become a pastor’s wife and looks forward to taking different roles of ministry in the Church. Eunice has a special place in her heart for doing work revolved around those who are suffering. She wants to form a ministry that reaches out to the afflicted so that through prayer, she can lead them to a better life.

We are continually grateful for your interest and involvement in this organization. From our family to yours: Merry Christmas!
