Spring 2009 Newsletter

God at Work: around the world, around the corner. Spring 2009

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that – and shudder. You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did (James 2:18b-22, NIV).

We have once again been blessed this spring to partner with a number of people who believe in putting their faith into action. GCM has been enriched and so has our ministry because of people who are action-oriented on behalf of the gospel. May we all remember that the things we do should be grounded in faith, but that faith without deeds is incomplete. May we put the faith in our heart into the action of our hands and feet…. So much happening…so much to be thankful for…so much to pray & partner for…highlights…

Praises

· Water…water…everywhere! In the month of April, GCM was honored to host ten First United Methodist Church youth members and chaperons from Pensacola, Fl. They began working hard in September to raise the funds to join us and to finance our first borehole in our Living Water program. We praise God for the incredible work that he did through them and the way that he blessed so many people during their visit with us. We are thanking God for the way that access to clean and public water is bringing relief to so many people in the village of Ihiala. (See Our First Well and slides at www.livingwaternigeria.blogspot.com). Thanks much Emily, Bill, Bob & the gang!

· Early May Rev. Fyne Nsofor, Christian Ezurike, and Mary Ann Kaiser were hosted in Delta State for a very successful Declaration Ministries conference. The over 30 ministers in attendance were blessed with sound biblical teaching and counseling, and in anointed ministrations and prayers. Other Declaration meetings have since held in Owerri, Awka, Nnewi and Lagos.

· Classes at SAIACS are going very well. Dr. Fyne taught back-to-back modules of World Christian Movement I & II, and still lives to tell about it. Mary Ann taught Use of English II, and Rev. Maduka is currently teaching Pastoral Ministries.

· We are gaining new students each month and we are thankful for the growth that SAIACS is experiencing.

· John Fyne-Nsofor graduated from grade school May 22, and is headed for high school, come August. Way to go Bongos M’man!

· We thank God for the safe arrival home of Ifeoma Fyne-Nsofor and Shannon Eichler—[and daddy’s survival of three ladies]. They experienced many challenges on their attempts to get back but they are thankful to have set their feet on American soil again. To God be all the glory.

· We are so very thankful for Mary Ann and the successful completion of her (first leg of) service with GCM in Nigeria. It is unbelievable that Mary Ann could have touched so many lives so deeply that there were hardly any dry eyes at her send-forth prayer chapel Wednesday. Mary Ann will be sorely missed here at GCM and around and about the community.

· Is it some divine consolation? Our community development ministry has just received a big boost through a matching loan of ca. $5000—the maximum allowed—by the (National Poverty Eradication Programe) Promise Keepers Programme for Faith Based Organizations. Through the program the federal government of Nigeria is cooperating with select churches and ministries to extend microfinance facilities to rural dwellers and low income earners. We are thankful for the Federal Government’s stamp of approval; and the opportunity to bring desired improvement in the lives and economic circumstances of the people God has blessed us with serving.

Prayers

· As we inherit new students into our school, we ask that you would lift them and their studies up to the Lord. We desire this school to be what they have been searching for and that their passion for ministry will only grow as time goes on. We labor for SAIACS to be a place of transformation for each of them.

· Please keep Mary Ann in your prayers as she returns to Florida Friday, June 19th. Lift up her transition back into American life as well as the challenges of leaving Nigeria that she has grown to love.

· We are searching for employees to fill a few much needed positions in GCM. Please ask God to bring us the right people to accomplish the work that must be done and to add to the spirit of the organization.

· External auditors have been on campus working through our books since the last three weeks. Thank God for the gracious offer by a board member to pick up the fees bill; and pray for a successful completion of their work within much ado.

· GCM is still in dire need of a new location. We are in need of guidance as to where this organization will thrive best and in need of the finances to make it happen.

Partnership

· God is blessing the work going on here and in the States to build our ministries at GCM. We are incredibly grateful for all of those who have chosen to partner with us and we are humbled by the way God is moving in those partnerships. If you would like to join in on the good works there are many opportunities!

· We have seen the incredible fruits of the labor of a group of youth in Florida. With our first borehole of Living Water built, we are eagerly looking for more people to partner with on this project. Many are asking for a similar borehole in their villages. Want to help? Check out www.livingwaternigeria.blogspot.com for ideas and to read more about the recent well building.

· We are looking for contributions to raise the $5000 matching fund for our NAPEP Promise Keepers microfinance program. You can help.

· GCM needs a new home and a lot of money to make it happen. Its a good soil to sow.

· We invite medical teams to come and minister to the sick in our community.

· Adjunct Faculty

· Library books, Bibles, Gospel materials and equipment.

The best of all is God with us!
