September Newsletter

“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us (1 John 11-12 NIV).”

God himself cannot be seen, but he is witnessed in our love for each other. What a mighty role we are given. Our words, our actions, our investments, and our motivations can either work together to express the love of God or…not. In every division of GCM, from our seminary (SAIACS), to our GlobalHEED sector, to our cyber café, we seek to help others see God, if only in our love! God is at work through Global Christian Ministries…

Praises

* SAIACS recently offered its very first course on HIV/AIDS and the Church. The course is believed to be the first offered at a theological institution in Nigeria and is a great step in the right direction for AIDS prevention.

* Rev. Fyne was a part of the planning committee as well as the moderator for the National Reform Conference on Theological Education in Nigeria that took place August 27-30. The conference was a great success and many important issues for the advancement of theological education in Nigeria were discussed. GCM’s GlobalHEED was also able to present a paper on incorporating HIV/AIDS courses into a greater number of theological institutions throughout the country and its importance; many thanks to our GlobalHEED resource persons, Victory and Mary Ann.

* The HIV/AIDS program is growing! We have recently spoken to students at Imo State University as well as students who were part of a local church conference. We have been engaging with networks of Christian ministers, Para church organizations and local churches in orientations for our long-term course and the interest is great. Praise God for blessing this ministry!

* Rev. Peter Maduka just completed a successful module on Family life; and Dr. Fyne is currently taking our last module of the (Middle) trimester at SAIACS entitled Christian Response to World Religions. It’s been a fantastic trimester for our students!

* We have seen a great interest from those in the community to take advantage of our fantastic library. Pastor Anthony Anuonye and his team are working hard with local university students, church pastors and members, and just about everybody who come regularly through the library. Word has spread quickly!

* Praise God for the success of our Globalnet Cyber Café’. We are now at the point of officially breaking even from the cost of the broadband and other running costs. We are drawing a good deal of traffic into our campus and making ourselves known to the community; and happy to welcome new staff in the persons of Nkechi Chigbu and Henry Dick.

* We are thankful for the continuing opportunity for our GlobalNet Computer Institute to train for Imo State University (IMSU). Currently our Kelvyn is coordinating an eight-week hands-on computer skills training for the 207 IMSU (English and Library Science) students who are currently training with us.

* Praise God for making funds available for us to bring in a few female Christian college students to help with library cataloguing and other areas of need in our. They are a great help to our library and we praise God for being part of their highroad ambition to work with their hands and earn honest wage. God’s blessings on you: Ifenyinwa, Goziem and Jane!

Prayers

* As we begin a new trimester at SAIACS, please be in prayer for our students as they meet their financial needs and as they take in everything God would have them bring into their future ministries.

* Due to the new use of our Library, we would love to be able to purchase a copier for those who need to make copies of the books. Pray for finances to cover the initial purchase and then the resources to maintain it and preferably profit from it!

* As our library, cyber café, and classes draw people in from the community we hope that people will become interested in the work we do here and the gospel we believe in. We would also love to see word spreading around the community about SAIACS.

* Please continue to lift up our HIV/AIDS program as we speak at churches and other organizations about this disease.

* We are always in need of prayer for discernment and guidance as we continue to seek God’s will for the daily functions of GCM as well as future steps.

Partnership

As we continue to grow in outreach and in SAIACS, our needs also continue to grow. We are consistently seeking partnerships with individuals, churches, and missionary boards/committees to carry out the vision God has given us. Pray that God will continue to lead us in the direction of those he wishes us to partner with. Please let us know if you have any connections with those who may be interested in joining our work. We have ongoing needs in the areas of:

* Adjunct Faculty
* Computers/Laptops/Printers/Cartridges
* Funds for chapel improvements: PA system, musical instruments, etc.
* Scholarships for students
* HIV/AIDS & Medical Missions; Doctors/nurses who may commit to short or long term ministry together with local professionals. Medicines, equipment and supplies.
* Funds for the backing of our HIV/AIDS awareness program and for the building of our Living Water well program.

Thank you for your interest, support, partnership and prayers! May God bless you.
